Release the source code and let someone with time on their hands to finish this excellent remake.

I also played this game for countless hours as a teen with my friends. I really hope we can motivate you to finish the game. I know it's a labor of love, but think of all the people who would be thankful to you!!! If you can't continue, of course I understand.

I am thinking of doing a java remake of RDS and would like to pick your brain. Would you mind emailing me?

hardly libellous, but the fact you used that car from the driver demo made me think that you used other "stuff" from it as well. If this isn't the case, accept my apologies. Anyway, I suppose the whole thing is a moot point.

Regards, mak.

    (October 10th 2004)
I'll delete libellous posts about me. The car model is a free one that comes with Blitz3d. No one else's code was even looked at, yet alone used on this remake. Please refrain from making statements that aren't true.

You may delete my posts, but it doesn't change the fact that it's mak's code.

Yes, this was definitely one of my favourite games, back in the time when graphics weren't more important than the game idea itself.

The screenshots really look promising, too. Please, if you can't continue development, publish your sources and put them under the GPL. I believe many people would try to finish the game - so we all can once again play it.

A short answer would be very nice. :-)

Stay tuned,
Mike

I was A HUGE fan of this game as a child. I built my own tracks and spent hundreds of hours staring at my C=64 version. I too would like you to complete this game, or port it if possible. Thank You.

    (July 17th 2004)
Claude
I too hope you please finish the game or release the code. PLEASE!!!!!!! Thanks. :-)

Oh my God! I so loved this game, I bought 3 copies when the first two stopped working! I spent long days on my C128 creating tracks and racing with my friends... the funnest 2 player game ever for the Commodore! I bet alot of people would pay for a remake, esp. if it looks as nice as those screenshots!

Thanks for the effort, PLEASE release the code in hopes someone else could work on it.

To all racing fans:

I would like to tell you about one of the biggest race fans around, it is 5 year old Tanner Mitchell! Unfortunately he has been diagnosed and is being treated for Neuro Blastoma Stage 4 Cancer at Dornbecker Childrens Hospital.

Race drivers and fans from across the country are joining together to raise money for his mounting medical bills. Would you please take a look at our site and if you can't donate, at least send him a message as his parents read each and every one of them to him!

If you wish to send donations or cards, please send them to:

Tanner Mitchell
c/o Steve McDaniel
1220 Maple Park Drive
Medford, OR 97501

If you wish to write checks, please make them out to "The Tanner Mitchell Fund" so that they can be deposited at Washington Mutual. All other donations will be picked up here and delivered to them in Portland at the Dornbecker Childrens Hospital where Tanner is going through stem cell transplants.

Thanks again for your continued support!

Please resume your fantastic work. I know you are busy, but I think you may realize how much this game means to some people. I have so many fond memories of the game, and the time spent playing it. With the crazy times we are living in, it is impossible to put a value on something that brings up back to our simple youth. I hope you find the energy to continue.

Hey man, hang in there! Really nice job on the Bruce Lee remake btw. I am an indie in Vancouver Canada, and I was also having probs with collision in BLitz3d. Did you ever solve them? This site offers a $15 solution: http://www.nuclearglory.com/index.php
You should do the remake and stick it on the web for $9.95. You'll probably make enough to retire, or at least quit your day job and go indie like me!!! (Well hopefully you enjoy your day job). Good luck. Let me know if you solve your collision probs on future projects. My company's website is www.detectivebrand.com

Hi,

I agree with all of the others that you should release your source. Don't lock it, we need it!! I am just planning another attempt to create a remake. I know its a hard decision, but noone will blame you for bad code ;-)

Please either continue work on this game or turn the source over to someone who can finish it. It looks like you're so close to the end, it would be a shame to quit now.

Hi
I'm very sad to read that your abbandoning the development of the remake. I was greatly looking forward to its release. It is one of the best games from a great era in computer games. The remake would surely have become widely welcomed throughout the scene of old time c64 gamers and such.
I hope you find the energy and time to bring the code back into development.
Cheers to you!

A remake of RDS! you genius you! I bought the original game when it first came out way back in the dark ages and spent many a sunny day in a darkened room ruining my eyes and shouting at the small car blowing itself up on the mine I had deposited in an ice crater LOL. Good Luck with the game.

Dude, RDS was one of the best games ever. I opened up your page with trembling fingers and was horrified to find that you abandoned the game. It looks damn good ! How about charging a small registration fee for the game ? $5 or so. I know I'd pay it, and if it encourages you to restart development, it can't be a bad thing, eh ? I'll even pay up front ! Meanwhile, can you post a beta version if it's remotely runnable ? Ciao !

Hi

Just wanted to say how bummed I was you stopped with the remake of RDS. I must have played that thing for a thousand hours as a kid on my Commodore 64 amd it was a real blast from the past to see it being remade for the PC. I understand that life can get in the way of such things, though, and will try to get over it.

Hoping you get back into the project at a later date perhaps

Thanks
N
